MTI Completes New Facility For Lake County Forest Preserve District

MTI Completes Lake County Forest Preserves District New Operations & Public Safety Facility

Elgin, IL – March 16, 2010 – MTI Construction Services, LLC is pleased to announce the completion of the new Operations & Public Safety Facility for the Lake County Forest Preserve District. The new facility is located at Fourth Lake Forest Preserve in Lindenhurst, Illinois along the north side of Grand Avenue (Route 132), ½ mile west of Route 45. The $23 million 106,000 square foot facility was started in August of 2008 and completed on schedule and within budget for occupancy on March 1, 2010. John Nelson of the Forest Preserve mentioned, “As the largest single-building construction project the Forest Preserve District has ever undertaken, MTI’s dedication, commitment, and follow-through have also made this one of the most well-run construction projects.”

The new energy-efficient facility with sustainable design and materials will help the Forest Preserve properly and efficiently operate and care for the now 26,000 plus acres owned by the district. Prior to occupying the new facility, the Lake County Forest Preserve District’s Operations and Public Safety departments occupied a total of 92,000-square-feet of Forest Preserve maintenance facilities at Lakewood Forest Preserve housed in several old barns and other buildings left from the 1950’s and 1960’s when the property was a dairy farm prior to purchase by the Forest Preserve District. The same buildings were being used to care for over 26,000 acres that were originally used in 1970 to maintain only 2,600 acres. The new facility will allow work crews to complete their tasks more safely, efficiently and effectively, and to keep pace with future growth of Forest Preserve lands and facilities.

The new facility will house the Forest Preserves Operations offices, as well as:

Trades such as electricians, heating and cooling technicians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, sign fabricators;
Heavy equipment and specialized crews such as landscape installation, habitat restoration, forestry, excavating and heavy-duty snowplowing;
District-wide support such as vehicle and equipment repair, and central supply and storage;
Maintenance management and engineering, as well supervisors for the Youth Conservation Corps; and
Public safety, including Ranger Police.

Hoffman Estates, Illinois, July 5, 2009 – MTI Construction Services, LLC recently completed a brand new 22,000 square foot fire station for the Village of Hoffman Estates. The new facility is located at 5775 Beacon Point Drive, just north of Shoe Factory road and south of the I-90 Tollway. The project was constructed and managed by MTI Construction Services, LLC of Elgin and designed by SRBL Architects, Ltd. of Deerfield. Originally, the project was estimated to cost the Village $7.4 million; however, the project was completed on schedule and under budget for a final cost of $7.0 million.

The new facility features four drive-through apparatus bays, a state-of-the-art kitchen and work-out room, as well as a lower-level emergency management conference room. At the project’s conception, the village had a goal for the facility achieving a LEED® Silver status through the U.S. Green Building Council. Instead, the new fire station is seeking a LEED® Gold certification.

Elgin, IL - May 1, 2009- MTI Construction Services, LLC is pleased to announce that 2 additional members of its project management team have become LEED Accredited Professionals (AP), giving MTI a total of 3 LEEP AP’s. Ken Lattanzi and Pat Wood were the most recent of MTI’s team to become accredited. MTI Completes Elk Grove Village Administration and Public Safety Complex

Elk Grove Village, Illinois, April 9, 2009 — “On time…and under budget”, was the theme at the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, held on a beautiful, April day at the site of the new Administration and Public Safety Complex at 901 Wellington Avenue in Elk Grove Village. The new 106,000 square foot facility was constructed and managed by MTI Construction Services, LLC and designed by SRBL Architects. The $28 million facility will allow Elk Grove Village to consolidate their village operations, administration, police, and fire administration under one roof. Mayor Craig Johnson and other village officials were in attendance, along with several local dignitaries to tour the newly constructed facility. As requested by the Mayor and Village Officials, the project was delivered on time and not just on budget, but well below the original $31 million budget.

The building is the first village hall in the state of Illinois to be designed to meet specifications required to apply for LEED Gold certification. The Leadership in Energy and Environment Design Green Building Rating System is a national program for building construction through the U.S. Green Building Council. The 2-story complex includes an underground parking garage for village and police squad vehicles, energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, and a green LiveRoof[1] which provides better roof water absorption and reduces the amount of storm water runoff, as well as providing many other environmental and aesthetical benefits.
