Elk Grove Village Facility Opening Ceremony Announced

The new Elk Grove Village Administration and Public Safety Facility is nearing its completion. According to village officials, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening will be held on Thursday, April 9. Local officials and dignitaries will be invited to tour and view the new 108,000 square foot facility designed by SRBL Architects, Ltd. and built by MTI Construction Services, LLC. The new facility will also be open the public to tour on Saturday, April 11.
MTI began construction on the Administration and Public Safety facility in August of 2007 and is projected to be delivered on schedule and approximately $3 million under budget. In the early phases of the project, the police station was temporarily relocated to 321 Bond St. in Elk Grove to allow construction to begin at the 901 Wellington Avenue location. The new facility will allow the Elk Grove Village administration, police, and fire administration to be consolidated into one efficient location. The facility will also provide space for the local cable station, Channel 6. The 2-story complex includes an underground parking garage for police squad cars, energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, and a green LiveRoof[1] which provides better roof water absorption and reduces the amount of storm water runoff, as well as providing many other environmental and aesthetical benefits. The $30 million construction project will be submitted for LEED Gold certification upon completion through the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED[2] program.
